For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef Lean ground beef is a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Add a nutty flavor boost.
  • 1 large egg To bind the mixture.
  • 2 cloves minced garlic For aromatic depth.
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning For flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese Cut into small cubes.

For Cooking

  • 3 cups marinara sauce Use store-bought or homemade.
  • fresh parsley For garnish, optional.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  • Take a scoop of the meat mixture and flatten it slightly in your hand. Place a cube of mozzarella cheese in the center, then seal the meat around it.
  • Repeat until all mixture is used, placing the stuffed meatballs in the bottom of the slow cooker in a single layer.

Cooking

  • Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs, ensuring they are well-coated.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours or on high for 2–3 hours, until meatballs are cooked through and cheese is melted.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.

Notes

Consider using lean ground beef for a healthier dish. Feel free to add red pepper flakes for some heat or cream cheese for a creamier filling.
