Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the finely chopped onion and diced bell pepper. Sauté for about 5-6 minutes until tender and fragrant.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the sautéed mixture and stir continuously for about 1-2 minutes to create a smooth roux.
  • Gradually pour in the seafood or chicken broth while stirring to ensure no lumps remain.

Cooking

  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Add the corn, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Introduce the heavy cream and shrimp into the pot. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the shrimp are pink and fully cooked.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
