  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Contributes a tangy contrast.

For the Bowl

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown) The base of the bowl, soft and absorbent.
  • 1 cup kimchi Fermented and spicy, adds a unique tang.
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced Crisp and refreshing.
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned Adds sweetness and color.
  • 1 medium avocado, sliced Creamy and luxurious.
  • to taste sesame seeds for garnish For a nutty finish.
  • to taste fresh cilantro for garnish (optional) Brightens up the presentation and flavor.

Instructions
 

Marinating the Steak

  • Whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and optional red pepper flakes in a bowl.
  • Pour the marinade over the flank steak, ensuring it's well-coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or longer for deeper flavor absorption.

Cooking the Rice

  • Cook rice according to package instructions. Ensure it's fluffy and ready to absorb flavors.

Cooking the Steak

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and sear each side for 4-5 minutes.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes, then slice against the grain.

Assembling the Bowls

  • Start with a scoop of cooked rice in each bowl. Layer with sliced steak, kimchi, cucumber, carrots, and avocado.

Serving

  • Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Marinating overnight will intensify the flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Serve warm rice for best experience.
