Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together warmed milk, eggs, and vanilla until creamy.
  • Combine this mixture with the dry ingredients until you have a sticky dough.
  • Knead softened butter into the dough until smooth and elastic.
  • Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling and Shaping

  • Prepare the filling by mixing ricotta cheese, mascarpone cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth, then chill.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air.
  • Roll it out on a lightly floured surface and cut circles using a cookie cutter.
  • Let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Frying

  • In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil to around 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the dough circles in batches until golden brown on both sides.
