Cake Batter

Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened For the divine frosting.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Makes fluffy and silky frosting.
  • 2-3 tbsp heavy cream Adds richness to frosting.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting) Hints of vanilla enhance flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture and milk to the wet ingredients, alternating between the two.
  • Divide the batter into three bowls: leave one plain, mix cocoa with milk into the second, and add strawberry puree (and optional food coloring) to the last bowl.
  • Pour the batters into prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool completely after baking.

Assembly

  • Once cooled, layer the cakes starting with chocolate, then vanilla, and finally strawberry, spreading buttercream frosting between each layer.
  • Frost the outer cake with the remaining frosting and decorate as desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure your butter is at room temperature and cool layers in the fridge for easier assembly. Consider substituting strawberry puree with other fruit purees for a unique twist.
