  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch To thicken the sauce, creating a silky texture.
  • 2 tablespoons water To dissolve the cornstarch.
  • 3 cups broccoli florets Adds nutrition and color.

Preparation

  • Place the thinly sliced beef into your crockpot, spreading it out evenly.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and minced garlic. Whisk thoroughly until well mixed, then pour this mixture over the beef.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2.5-3 hours.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, whisk together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and stir into the crockpot to thicken the sauce.
  • Add the broccoli florets on top of the beef, cover, and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Serve hot over the cooked rice, garnishing with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

For best results, slice the beef against the grain. For a lighter alternative, consider using chicken or tofu. This dish is great for meal prep, just keep rice separate until serving.
