  • 1 cup sushi rice Short-grain rice that turns sticky when cooked.
  • 1 block firm tofu, cubed Rich in protein; becomes crispy when fried.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Helps give the tofu its crunch.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Enhances the flavor of the crispy tofu.
  • 1 each avocado, diced Adds smoothness and richness.
  • 1/2 cup carrot, julienned Provides a crisp texture and vibrant color.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds Adds flavor and crunch.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then cook according to package instructions and let cool slightly.
  • Drain the tofu, wrap it in a towel, and press for 15-20 minutes to absorb excess moisture.
  • Cut the pressed tofu into cubes and coat them in cornstarch.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, add oil, and fry the tofu cubes for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Drizzle soy sauce over the fried tofu and toss gently to coat.

Assembly

  • In a bowl, layer sushi rice as the base, then add crispy tofu, diced avocado, and julienned carrots.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and serve immediately.

Notes

For crispier tofu, marinate in soy sauce for 10 minutes before coating in cornstarch. Experiment with toppings like cucumber, radish, or pickled ginger. Use brown rice for a healthier option.
