Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the rotini pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (including juices), Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine cooked rotini, the meat sauce mixture, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle reserved mozzarella and remaining Parmesan cheese on top.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Serving

  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for better flavor. Consider adding bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition. Let the dish rest for a few minutes after baking.
